Where is the jewelry produced?
All Rebecka Fröberg Jewelry is handmade in New York by Rebecka or under her direct supervision.

Why do the stones in my jewelry look different than those on the website?
Stones vary in size, color and inclusions. Minimal flaws occur naturally in many stones. While we believe these natural elements add to the beauty and individuality of the jewelry, we stand behind all of our products so should you be unhappy with the jewelry you have just received, please feel free to return the item. Please see our Return Policy before returning the item.

Where do the stones come from?
We personally inspects the stones we use for our jewelry to ensure a high level of quality. All our stones are sourced through vendors based in the United States. The majority of these stones are cut in India and Brazil.

Are you using Non-Conflict Diamonds?
Rebecka Fröberg Jewelry is following the resolutions set forth by the Kimberley Certification Process. To the best of our knowledge, the diamonds used in our jewelry are conflict-free; we use only reputable suppliers when purchasing and processing diamonds and ask our suppliers to provide documentation verifying the sources of our stones. For more information on conflict diamonds, please visit www.kimberleyprocess.com

What type of metal is used in Rebecka Fröberg Jewelry?
Our jewelry is made of solid sterling silver, 10 karat yellow, pink or white gold, platinum, 14K yellow, pink or white gold, and 18 karat yellow, pink or white gold. The metal for each piece is specified in the product description of the item and all our cast and fabricated parts are using only reclaimed precious metals.

What is colored gold and karat gold?
Pure gold is a naturally yellow metal that in its pure form is usually too soft to be used for jewelry. It is common for gold to be mixed with other metals to produce an alloy, which is a mixture of two or more metals. The higher karat gold has a higher gold content in the alloy. For example 18K gold contains 75% pure gold.

Colored gold is produced through different types of alloys. Pink gold (also called red or rose gold) is made by increasing the amount of copper in the alloy. White gold uses nickel or palladium as an alloy to produce a whitish coloring.

Is there nickel in the metal?
Minimal amounts of nickel occur as an alloy in white gold to create its whitish color. Therefore our standard white gold products contain small amounts of nickel. If you want your white gold piece completely nickel free you can request Palladium White Gold, which does not contain any nickel. This alloy has a slightly higher production cost and is softer than regular white gold.

What does Rebecka Fröberg do to protect the environment?
Rebecka Fröberg Jewelry uses the finest materials from trusted American suppliers. We are dedicated to using environmentally friendly resources and processes as much as possible and are always looking for ways to reduce our environmental impact. As nature is our major source of inspiration and the materials that we use come from nature we feel that it is our responsibility and wish to be sensitive to the footprint we leave upon the earth.

All jewelry is produced in our Brooklyn based studio. Producing locally is a significant way to reduce environmental impact while encouraging local economic development. Due to the negative impacts of metal mining, 100% of our gold and silver jewelry are made with recycled metals, chains and findings excluded.

We use procedures in our studio to capture and recycle our own metal scrap and waste. We also recycle paper and packaging materials, use permanent instead of temporary items (such as plates, towels, etc.), have energy-efficient light bulbs and send out e-cards in place of post cards. Small changes that make a big difference in the long run.

How do I care for Rebecka Fröberg jewelry?
We recommend that you store your piece in the box provided with your order as proper storage helps to prevent scratching of stones and metal. Store jewelry separately and keep away from heat extreme heat or moisture. We recommend applying makeup, hairspray and perfume before putting on jewelry. Remove jewelry before doing strenuous activities or using household chemicals. Do not wear jewelry in a swimming pool or hot tub as chlorine and extreme heat can damage gemstones and metals.

To polish, use a soft polishing cloth and gently rub cloth to jewelry. Alternatively, clean jewelry using toothpaste applied with the finger tips, a soft cloth or a soft toothbrush. You can also use any cream or liquid polish, such as Wright’s Silver Cream, to brighten and clean silver, or Wright’s Jewelry Cleaner for 10K gold, 18K gold and platinum (use on metal only). Wright's Silver Cream can be purchased at most hardware stores.

Do not use a polishing cloth on Rebecka Fröberg jewelry with a matte finish— it will ruin the matte finish. Bon Ami, a common detergent for pots and pans, can be used to restores the matte finish and brightens up any jewelry. Mix a small amount in your hand with lukewarm water and, with a soft toothbrush, lightly clean the jewelry and rinse. You may also gently use a white 3mm Scotchbrite pad to restore the matte finish.

Rebecka Fröberg uses stones that have various levels of hardness. Hard stones, such as diamonds, rubies and sapphires, can be cleaned with an ultrasonic cleanser or with jewelry cleansers. Please be aware that some of our products combine stones that have different hardness levels. Therefore we do not recommend using cleaning substances on multi-stone products. These products should be cleaned with water and a toothbrush or cloth. For porous stones, such as opals and turquoise, we recommend avoiding contact with water as this might darken the stone.

Why is my sterling silver jewelry tarnishing?
All Rebecka Fröberg silver jewelry is made with sterling silver, which is 92.5% fine silver alloyed with copper. Sterling silver will tarnish naturally through time and wear, caused by moisture and chemicals in the air and the natural oils in your skin. We recommend that you clean your sterling silver jewelry regularly as a piece that has been tarnishing for a long time is harder to clean. Setting a reminder for cleaning your sterling silver jewelry a few times a year is a good idea and storing your silver piece in a closed ziplock bag will keep the the air from tarnishing your jewelry when you don't wear it. Please see our care recommendations above on how to clean your silver jewelry.
